Summary of Medical Training
Qualified as an MD from the University of Alberta (Canada) in 1985. The Medical School at the University of Alberta has been ranked fifth out of a possible sixty Canadian universities by the Gourman Report. Mr. David finished in the top one third out of 120.
Internship at St. Mary’s Hospital affiliated with McGill University, Montreal Canada. McGill Univeristy is ranked first amongst Canadian universities and twentieth in the world by ‘Times Higher Education’ and ‘Quacquarelli Symonds.’
General Practitioner in Calgary, Alberta, Canada. Mr. David decided to broaden his general medical knowledge by working as a general practitioner for a year before deciding to specialize in Ophthalmology.
General Ophthalmology training took place in the United Kingdom at the St. Paul’s Eye Hospital, Liverpool as well as the Birmingham and Midland Eye Hospital 1990-1996.
Mr. David undertook a six month exchange to the Professorial Eye Unit at Royal Alexandra Hospital in Brisbane, Australia.
Subspecialty fellowship in Oculoplastic surgery at Bristol Eye Hospital, Bristol 1997.
Appointed a Consultant Ophthalmologist and Oculoplastic Surgeon South Warwickshire Hospitals NHS Trust 1997 where Mr. David has been the lead clinician for ophthalmic cancers.
Special Interests:
- Small/micro incision cataract surgery with astigmatic reduction.
- General Ophthalmology to include cataract and glaucoma.
- Removal of eyelid and periocular lesions including skin cancers.
- Correction of eyelid malpositions including the removal of ‘eyebags’ and correction of ‘droopy’ eyelids.
- Botulinum toxin injections to alleviate blepharospasm, reduction of glabellar headache, and to reduce wrinkles.
- Surgical care of the prosthetic socket.
- Endoscopic lacrimal surgery.
Outside Interests:
Mr. David an outdoorsman who enjoys alpine skiing, hiking, and camping-including a camping trip onto the artic ice floe. He also enjoys many sports including sailing, windsurfing, tennis and cycling.
